Gozo is a peaceful, friendly island, with both rocky and safe sandy beaches for swimming and diving. The village of Munxar is very quiet and has two shops selling everyday groceries. The island's capital, Victoria, is a little over a mile away and has a daily market, as well as shops which sell just about everything you can think of.
The island itself is full of myth and history - it is thought to have been the inspiration for Calypso's isle in Homer's legendary Odysseys. From baroque churches to pre-historical sites, there is a lot to see and explore.
Gozo also offers a spectacular coastline with great diving and snorkelling sites.
Restaurants of all kinds abound on Gozo, with delicious local fresh fish, fruit and vegetables being the obvious specialities, but pasta dishes and pizzas are excellent and widely available.
Exploring the island is fun on foot, by car (especially by jeep) and boat trips are available from several parts of the island. There are books and games in the house, including a football table for quieter(?) times indoors.
